PSM menjadi penganjur Persidangan Antarabangsa Negara-negara Selatan dimana wakil dari negara-negara Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Zimbabwe and Malaysia menghadiri.

PSM to host the South-South People’s Solidarity Conference on 5-7 July 2010

Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) will be hosting the Conference on “Development Paradigms and Strategies for Actions – Response from the South and Enhancing South-South People’s Solidarity Network”, on 5-7 July 2010, at Shah’s Village Hotel, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

The South - South People’s Solidarity Network (SSPSN) is a platform of progressive social organizations, movements and individuals from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America striving for a world of peace, security, equality, dignity and human-centered sustainable development. It aims at furthering exchanges of information and experience among its members, promoting joint researches on people’s alternatives to neo-liberal globalization and facilitating networking for joint actions and progress on alternatives.

The Conference on “Development Paradigms and Strategies for Actions – Response from the South and Enhancing South-South People’s Solidarity Network” is being co-organized by the Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM) and the Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation (VPDF). PSM which founded on the basis of grassroots struggle for social justice in Malaysia, has been always in solidarity with the progressive people’s movements worldwide to build a better world. While VPDF is a non-governmental organization in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), which cooperates with organizations and individuals inside and outside Vietnam for activities in the fields of people-to-people diplomacy, research and information, and other economic, social and cultural activities related to issues of peace and development.

The conference is sponsored ActionAid International, an international anti-poverty agency based in South Africa whose aim is to fight poverty worldwide.

The Conference will gather progressive scholars, politicians and social activists from the South to discuss and analyze the world’s current situation, alternative development models, thus identify response from the South and action plan of SSPSN as well as measures to enhance the Network. Participants of the conference are coming from Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Zimbabwe and Malaysia.
