This year for the first time in Semenyih, Deepavali stalls has been set up in Semenyih Sentral. The organisers is a new NGO in Semenyih called Semenyih Indian Welfare and Cultural Society. A moderate Opening ceremony was held on the 18 October 2008. Comrade S.Arutchelvan was called to officiate the event as well as deliver a speech. In his speech he spoke about the current economy crisis and the agony of ISA. Also present were Organising chairperson RS Chandra and Secretary M.Rajendran.
